Amancio: Two Faces on a Tombstone to be Screened in San Diego
Pride will present Amancio: Two Faces on a Tombstone, on Jan. 21. The documentary which focuses on life-and-death issues still facing sexual minorities, has captivated audiences at LGBT film festivals around the world since it premiered in May. Directed by award-winning documentary filmmaker Tom Murray and produced by Bruce Presley of Downtown Loft Studio, Amancio trails the compelling story of one man's journey to avenge the murder of a young gay man.

San Diego Pride Gives More Than $90,000
San Diego Pride will have gifted $93,633 by the first week in December to a plethora of LGBT community-supportive organizations. The funding has been made possible through a variety of channels that include proceeds generated from the annual Pride festival and other official Pride events, plus programs such as Friends of Pride, the Pride Ambassador Program, the Milk Money Holiday Campaign, partnerships and business support.

As part of its ongoing commitment to protect and enhance the environment, San Diego Pride held a tree-planting ceremony Nov. 4, donating 10 Quercus suber (cork oak) trees to the west end of Balboa Park. Sen. Kehoe Receives Lifetime Achievement Award
San Diego Pride recently honored Senator Christine Kehoe with a Lifetime Achievement Award for her vital role in helping to rebuild the organization in the late 1980s, after it experienced a series of "ups and downs" in previous years. Kehoe is the fifth recipient of the prestigious award.

Early-bird Pride Festival Tickets Available Online
San Diego Pride has made available online e-tickets to this summer's two-day festival, which can be securely purchased and conveniently printed in advance from home computers. Those purchasing tickets by July 1 can also obtain them at early-bird rates for $15 a day or $25 for a weekend pass. The cost otherwise is $20 per day.

'Art of Pride' to Showcase Local Talent at Pride Festival
San Diego Pride will present its popular Art of Pride exhibition at this year's two-day Pride festival in Balboa Park, on July 18-19. Jury Denies Firefighters Millions
The mini-sized payout the jury awarded for emotional distress to the firefighters speaks volumes about the so-called notion that they endured severe or pervasive trauma while wearing earphones and sitting six feet off the ground inside a fire truck with the windows rolled up and a roaring diesel engine powering them along a one-mile parade route. This is the same parade route followed by hundreds of public safety and law enforcement officers annually who are unconditionally welcomed with applause by cheering crowds.

Two Community Members Elected to San Diego Pride Board
San Diego LGBT Pride has appointed two business professionals to its board of directors. Ebony Burnett and Rick Burgess will serve as directors on the board, which oversees the sixth largest LGBT Pride in the country. They join San Diego Pride in a year when the organization is celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Stonewall riots in New York City, which marked the beginning of the modern-day Pride movement.

Ken St. Pierre Joins Pride Team as Director of Development
Pride has hired Ken St. Pierre as its director of development, which will involve obtaining financial support to sustain Pride's ongoing work in the community. St. Pierre joins the Pride team after serving as special event coordinator for Servicemembers Legal Defense Network, a position that had him traveling the country for planning fundraisers to fight the federal government's Don't Ask, Don't Tell policy. As Pride's director of development, he will assist in developing ties within the community for planned, annual and deferred giving, while meeting the challenges brought on by the slumping economy.

Pride Makes Two Key Production Team Assignments
